Description
Back for the first time since 2022, this is more than just salmon, it’s a celebration of resilience. Stronger salmon runs mean we can once again share these exceptional Sockeye, wild-harvested in our solar-powered reefnet fishery – the most sustainable wild salmon fishery on Earth. Each fish is carefully hand hauled with almost no bycatch, ensuring unmatched quality and environmental stewardship.
Why They’re Extraordinary
First, the flavor: rich, bold, and buttery. Thanks to their omega-3 packed oil content, these Sockeye are tender, moist, and full of character. That same natural richness also makes them simple to prepare – the high oil content means it’s easy to cook them to perfection, whether on the grill, in the oven, or gently poached.
Here’s the “why”: Fraser River Sockeye are genetically built for one of the longest, toughest migrations in the salmon world. Before they enter the river, they’re at their absolute peak. Brimming with fat reserves that give them both their unforgettable taste and their nearly impossible-to-dry-out texture. In fact, our reefnet Sockeye portions carry almost double the omega-3 content of typical Sockeye.
Cooking Made Simple
This is restaurant-quality fish, made simple at home. Just a sprinkle of sea salt is all you need to let the salmon shine, but if you’d like to uplevel your meal, try:
- A drizzle of garlic butter and squeeze of fresh lemon.
- A touch of dill and cracked pepper alongside roasted vegetables.
- A light poach with white wine and herbs for an elegant finish.
Why Reefnet Matters
Flavor is only part of the story. Reefnetting is one of the world’s most sustainable fishing methods: selective, solar-powered, and modeled after traditional techniques used by Coast Salish tribes for centuries. By choosing reefnet-caught Sockeye, you’re supporting a fishery that protects salmon populations, respects the ecosystem, and delivers seafood of unmatched quality.

FAQs About Reefnet-caught Fraser River Sockeye Salmon
How many people does one portion serve?
Each 6 oz portion is perfect for one adult as a main dish. If you’re using the salmon in grain bowls, pastas, or salads, one portion can stretch to serve two.
Do I need to remove the skin before cooking?
No — the skin is left on and crisps up beautifully when pan-seared or grilled. It also helps keep the salmon moist during cooking. You can remove it after cooking if preferred.
Is this salmon seasonal?
Yes. Reefnet-caught Fraser River sockeye is available during a limited harvest window each year, typically in late summer. We freeze the portions at peak freshness and offer them while supplies last.

Every order I’ve purchased has arrived when promised and the quality of the salmon has been outstanding.

Because I’m Histamine Intolerant, I can only eat fish that is wild caught and then processed and frozen immediately – right on the fishing boat. (That prohibits the fish from developing higher histamine levels.) This salmon meets that requirement, and it’s frozen in 6 oz. packs, so it’s easy to either split one piece or indulge in the whole thing yourself! I love the skin too when it’s fried until it’s crispy. There’s no “fishy” taste or smell because it’s frozen totally fresh. It’s simply DELICIOUS SALMON!! And SO good nutritionally too. And the service couldn’t be better. Thank YOU, Lummi Island Wild!

We are addicted to this food purveyor for the fine quality of seafood. Sockeye Salmon and scallops are second to none. Food always comes rock solid frozen.

I received my first order of sockeye salmon from this company early last week. I also received my first order of salmon from another seafood company (on the Northwest coast) on the same day. Side by side there was NO comparison. I took a pic of the two packages and sent it to the OTHER company stating “Look at the difference!” Lummi looked like a bar of gold compared to what I received from the other place. (they sent me a partial replacement, that’s how bad theirs looked in comparison.)
So far, I have baked two fillets and the taste is phenomenal!! Thank you, fishermen at Lummii! You have a new and devoted customer :).

This order is like all my past orders of salmon!! Perfect. I have a hard time if someone serves salmon when I eat away from home because their salmon came from elsewhere. I want to complement you on your packaging – EXCELLENT. Before, I was a member of a group order. Now I can order on my scedule.

Really fantastic salmon. I don’t usually like sockeye but this is an exception. I’m told it’s because of the very high fat content in this year’s catch.
I usually am a snob for Alaska salmon but in the future I will be ordering from this company. Thanks, Sierra!

I’m so impressed with the quality of this salmon. It doesn’t smell or tasty fishy at all. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever had salmon this good! It’s pricey but so worth it to know the fish are being sustainably harvested. I’m happy to pay a higher price if it means a company is doing things the right way. Keep up the great work!
