With large flakes and a tender yet firm texture, halibut is an excellent option for your next backyard barbeque, weeknight dinner, or birthday celebration. But what makes our halibut the best? We have a few good reasons, but the best way to find out is to try it for yourself.
Our Halibut Offerings
We’re proud to offer two halibut products, each with its own story. Both options are sustainably sourced, caught on the Pacific coast, and require little preparation. They are blast frozen to lock in both taste and texture, and they remain frozen throughout their processing. Check out our products below and visit each product page for additional information.
Salish Sea halibut is among the most sought-after white fish in the world. With just a three-week season, these fish are prized for their unbelievable flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture. This halibut is harvested exclusively by tribal fishers in the Salish Sea, and once it’s gone, you’ll have to wait until next year.
Our Alaskan halibut is extremely popular among our returning customers. Caught in southeast Alaska, this halibut is mild, sweet-tasting, and sure to be a crowd pleaser. Cuts are boneless and include skin, and each portion weighs around 6 oz.
All our halibut is shipped right to your doorstep. As with all our wild-caught fish, your order will arrive frozen. Halibut can last for up to 8 months in a freezer, but we doubt you’ll be able to hold off from enjoying your purchase.
What Makes Our Halibut the Best?
There are a few factors that make our fish the best halibut you can buy online. We’ll start with the sourcing. While caught separately, our Alaskan halibut and Salish Sea halibut both utilize environmentally conscious fishing techniques. Our fishing is designed to minimize impact on ocean populations and the surrounding ecosystem. When you buy our halibut, you’re choosing to invest in ocean preservation and seafood sustainability.
Then, there’s the flavor. The best halibut should also, well, taste like it’s the best. Our halibut is tender, juicy, and lightly sweet – unlike farmed alternatives. Halibut is a lean fish, which means it can dry out quickly. By contrast, our halibut stays moist, plump, and sweet, even after cooking. If you don’t believe us, you’ll just have to try for yourself.
We also think that the best halibut doesn’t need much by way of preparation. Halibut is has a very mild flavor, which means it can be easily overpowered. Of course, we’ll never turn down an elaborate halibut recipe, like Curried Halibut Cakes with Apricot Ginger Dipping Sauce, but the fish should carry its own weight in a meal. It shouldn’t need lots of butter and spice to taste good. That’s why we always prefer our halibut with a simple sear and a fresh squeeze of lemon – it won’t need more than that to make the flavors sing.
