If you’re after a delicious, versatile, and healthy meal, look no further than our wild sockeye salmon. Sockeye salmon has a fresh, clean flavor and is high in omega-3 fatty acids. With a high fat content, vibrant red color, and a firm but flaky texture, sockeye is a reliable favorite amongst seafood lovers. This type of salmon is an excellent candidate for high-heat cooking, like grilling, broiling, sautéing, baking, and poaching. Order yourself a portion or two and cook up a special dinner this weekend.
Wild Sockeye Salmon Options from Lummi Island Wild
Along with several different types of salmon, at Lummi Island Wild, we are proud to offer a variety of sockeye salmon options. From fillets to portions, we’ll help you cross this important item off your grocery list.
- 6 oz Alaskan Wild Sockeye – Our 6-ounce wild sockeye portions come straight from the pristine waters off the Alaskan coast. These portions are large enough for two servings, or 3 ounces per person, but we won’t say anything if you keep the whole thing to yourself. These portions have pin bones removed, and the skin is left on.
- 6 oz Baker Wild Sockeye – Our Baker wild sockeye portions are among our favorites here at Lummi Island Wild. They have a superior fat content, which makes for an amazing flavor and mouthfeel. These salmon are harvested exclusively by Upper Skagit Tribal families in the lower Salish Sea. While we are proud of all the seafood we provide, these Baker portions have a special place in our hearts.
- Baker Wild Sockeye Fillets – Like our 6 oz Baker wild sockeye portions, these Baker sockeye fillets are out-of-this-world good. The fish are among the last wild sockeye remaining in the lower Salish Sea. Over the years, multiple tribes have worked together to save these fish from extinction. Now, they’re an excellent example of the “eat them to save them” strategy. These fillets weigh an average of 25 ounces, making for a stunning centerpiece to any meal.
All our wild sockeye salmon offerings are flash-frozen and shipped in insulated containers. This preserves their fresh-caught taste, even if you wait a few weeks to eat them. If you’re looking for a shelf-stable option, check out our smoked sockeye pouches, which have a shelf life of 3 years.
What’s the Difference Between Wild Sockeye Salmon, King, Keta, and Pink?
Wild sockeye salmon is just one of the many types of salmon we offer. On the scale of lowest to highest fat content, it sits just below king at the top of the list. With a distinct, velvety texture, deep red color, and clean flavor, sockeye is sought after by salmon enthusiasts around the world.
If you’re looking for a truly luxurious experience, check out our king salmon offerings. Looking for a slightly different taste experience? We have plenty of keta and pink options, as well as a variety of products that feature our salmon as a central ingredient, like fish bone broth and chowder. When it comes to wild sockeye salmon, Lummi Island Wild has everything you need.
